Netherlands Geodetic Commission (NCG)

Area of activity

The area of activity of the NCG is fundamental and strategic geodetic research in the Netherlands and related areas concerning the scientific and social developments, also in relation with the policy and the activities of governmental geodetic departments.

Organization

The NCG is an institute of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW). The NCG consists of the Commission, subcommissions, the Board and the Office. About 60 people from universities, institutes, governmental departments and companies are involved with the work of the NCG. The Office of the NCG, located in Delft, supports this work.

Tasks


- The Netherlands Geodetic Commission (NCG) co-ordinates fundamental and strategic geodetic research in the Netherlands.
- The NCG advises on general policy issues related to geodesy, stimulates the spread of geodetic knowledge and co-ordinates the geometric infrastructure of the Netherlands.
- Topics of permanent consultation are on marine geodesy, land subsidence and sea level change, the theory and modelling of geo-information, and on the geometric infrastructure of the Netherlands.

Research and Publications

The NCG initiates research that is of importance for the development of geodesy in co-operation with universities, governmental departments and with companies. The NCG publishes results of geodetic research, workshops and symposia in the series:

+ 'Green series' (mainly in Dutch).
